Volunteer with Makerere Institute for Social Development (MISD)

At Makerere Institute for Social Development (MISD), we believe in the power of community and collaboration. Volunteering is a meaningful way to give back, share your expertise, and contribute to the education and growth of our students. We offer various volunteer opportunities across multiple disciplines, and your time and skills can make a significant impact on our students’ learning experience.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • ICT (Information and Communication Technology):
If you have a passion for technology and a desire to help students develop their ICT skills, we invite you to volunteer in our ICT department. You can assist with tutoring, training students on software and hardware, and supporting our tech infrastructure. Your contribution will help students develop the technical expertise needed for success in the digital age.

  • Fashion and Design:
Fashion is a dynamic field that requires creativity and hands-on experience. As a volunteer in our Fashion and Design department, you will work directly with students, guiding them through design processes, pattern making, and the use of sewing machines. If you have experience in fashion design or textile arts, your guidance will inspire future designers and entrepreneurs.

  • Journalism:
If you have experience in media, writing, or broadcasting, volunteering in our Journalism department offers an excellent opportunity to shape the next generation of journalists. You’ll help students develop their writing, reporting, and editing skills, as well as provide mentorship in creating high-quality journalistic content.

  • Social Work and Social Administration:
Social work is a field that requires compassion, empathy, and a deep understanding of social issues. Volunteers in this department will assist students in learning how to tackle community challenges, conduct research, and develop practical solutions. Whether you have a background in social work or simply a passion for helping others, your contribution will help shape responsible and capable social workers.

  • Counseling:
Our students need guidance not only in academics but also in personal growth and mental well-being. As a volunteer counselor, you will provide students with emotional support, career guidance, and mental health counseling. Whether you have experience as a professional counselor or a strong interest in helping others navigate life’s challenges, your role will be crucial in fostering a supportive and healthy learning environment.

Why Volunteer with MISD?
